Beth LeVine is the Community Impact Manager for Financial Stability at United Way of the Greater Capital Region, Inc. in Albany, NY. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Mathematics from The College of Saint Rose and is currently working to become a Certified Educator of Personal Finance through the Institute for Financial Literacy. Beth first became involved with VITA as a volunteer tax preparer in 2006. She continues to work with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program in many capacities including site coordinator, quality reviewer, tax law and software trainer, Mobile Tax Team member and volunteer tax preparer. Beth is a single parent and a VITA-eligible consumer, and knows first hand the many challenges facing low income families.

CA$H-GCR (Creating Assets, Savings and Hope of the Greater Capital Region) is a United Way of the Greater Capital Region-led coalition of more than 90 community, social, business and government agencies whose missions are dedicated to helping low-income families in the Capital Region of New York State achieve financial stability. CA$H-GCR serves five counties (Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, Saratoga and Schoharie) with a population of just under 1 million residents. The Coalition has 26 VITA sites and 21 TCE sites with three sites being open year round. During the 2010 filing season there were 15 ad hoc or Mobile Tax days and three “Mega Sites.” Over the past two years the free tax preparation program has returned over $26 million to the Capital Region of New York.
