- Buzzing sound of electricity - ♫ ♪ Guitar music briefly plays in the background ♪ ♫ ♫ ♪ Upbeat music is now playing in the background ♪ ♫ The IRS is excited to share a demonstration of How to Register for Energy Credits online, which will give dealers and sellers a new and easy way to register their business, complete time of sale reports, upload documents, register for advance payments, and make corrections to any incorrect information completely online.

This is the first release of this new online tool, and there will be future enhancements down the road to ensure a smooth user experience.

Today you'll see a quick tutorial on how to register your business, submit time of sale reports, upload and remove documents, and register for advance payments.

Let's take a closer look at how this works.

IRS uses ID.ME - a technology provider to provide identity verification and sign-in services.

If you have an ID.ME account, just sign in.

Don't create a new ID.ME account, for your business.

If you're a new user, have your photo identification ready.

Verify your personal identity, not your business information with ID.ME Enter the required information on each screen.

After you complete these steps, you'll see a success box after you complete your account registration.

You can now complete the clean vehicle dealer registration steps.

Next, you'll enter information such as name, phone number, EIN, mailing address, e-mail and a box to check if you're a state license dealer - click Next.

You'll now be asked to enter your dealership state and license number - click Next.

You can now upload any supporting documents, such as the state license.

If your document upload failed for any reason, you'll see a message saying upload failed.

You'll need a file that's a PDF, PNG, or JPEG.

Click the attestation boxes and - click Next.

If a document failed to upload, you will receive a message.

You can then review the information you entered.

Once you verify that it's complete and accurate - click Register.

The pop up window will appear that asks if you're sure you want to submit your dealer registration.

If your details are correct - click Register.

On the next page, you'll receive a message that says success.

Next, if you reported that you're a dealer with a state license, you'll have the option to continue to register to receive advance payments for clean vehicle tax credits.

Buyers can choose to transfer to register dealers - starting on January 1, 2024 - click Register.

Here you'll enter banking information, such as the bank account number and routing number, then click on the attestation button - a window will appear asking if you're sure you want to submit the dealer banking information.

You'll click register and a summary screen will appear with a message that your registration is complete and pending review.

Once IRS review is complete, you'll see a message that says success you've registered to receive advance payments.

Don't worry, if you need to edit any information, you can do so on the dealer registration summary page.

If you click edit phone and e-mail and update with new information - click Save and you'll receive a message that - success, you've saved your phone and e-mail.

If for any reason you need to resubmit your registration, you can go to the seller registration form page, click resubmit registration on the bottom of the page.

A message will appear asking if you're sure - click Continue.

You have successfully completed the dealer registration process.

By January 1, 2024 - you'll be able to submit time of sale reports, Please note, there is a brief waiting period between when a dealership and complete advance payments. registers to receive advanced payments, and when the dealership is able to submit their first advanced payment request.

The IRS will make enhancements over time, to expand the Existing functionality and make a seamless user experience.

Energy credits online will be available in October 2023.
